Although, I am still displeased with the way my blog LOOKS I am still going to update it.

I updated my gardening page.

I drove to the farm today with seed packets. I left with pots and containers filled with dirt and hopefully successful plants with a good yield. The seeds I did were Brandywine Tomatoes, Cherry tomatoes, spinach, ever-bearing strawberries, oregano, broccoli, shasta daisies and dianthus. Mom Cook and Naomi advised me to be careful of my oregano plant because it will take over. I plan on having my herbs in hanging baskets. So if my oregano wants to have room to stretch it can do so. Doesn’t that sound pretty? My oregano draping over  the sides of it’s pot.

I mended my leggings (I wear them in the winter) the other day. The holes were getting bigger and they could not be ignored any longer. They are a spandex and cotton blend so we will see how they hold up. If not I will just throw them away, and look for a bloomers pattern (never in my life have I ever thought I’d want to be wearing bloomers). After getting help and pointers from Libby on a skirt that I did a few weeks ago, I am really excited about sewing. I went to Wal-Mart to see what they had on their clearance and I ended up getting 9 yards of material for $15.90. I think that those are going to end up being skirts.

Monday, Betsy and I are going up to Clare to do some shopping.  I have a little list going. Clare has Amish stores, I went with some of the Cooks and Nelsons (Wendy’s side of the family) at Christmas. I really enjoyed it. Some stores that we are probably going to stop at are the hardware store, the bulk food store, and the ding and dent store. We’ll see what other mischief we can get into. Have a blessed and restful Sunday everyone.

Here are my top ten arguments against make-up.

10. You have to re-apply it throughout the day.

9. It is expensive.

8. It is a waste of my time in the morning, when I could be doing something else.

7. My eyeliner runs, my eye shadow gets caked between the creases of my eyes, my blush gets uneven, my lipstick fades, and  psh forget the foundation on my oily skin.

6. I gave it up a long time ago, the last time I wore make-up was on my 19th birthday when my friend put it on for me. The time before that was in October of 2007 for my Senior Homecoming.

5.It can attract the wrong kind of attention.

4. It gets on your clothes!

3. It’s one less thing to worry about.

2. My boyfriend likes me without it! 🙂 Don’t believe me? Ask him.

1. If God wanted my lips to be a different color they would be, if God wanted my eyes to be bigger they would be, if God wanted my cheeks to be rosy, or my complexion to be even He would change the chemistry to my face to where I can look like everyone else, and it would change with the changes of style.

Why I shop where I shop.

  • It’s cheap!
  • It turns into a hunt, which can be fun.
  • You get excited when you find good stuff. The thrill is in the find.
  • You end up having things that are one of a kind and nobody else has.
  • Clothing sizes amoung other things in regular stores sicken me.
  • $10.00 for a shirt? I could get 5 shirts of $10.00 at the thrift store if I really wanted to!
  • I’m not trying to follow trends, nor am I start any.

My blog has been pretty dry lately.

I went to the thrift store yesterday before church.

To my surprise I found some dresses and jumpers that were in my style and size.

I was originally looking for summer skirts due to the fact that it was so hot outside and I was wearing a narrow jean skirt.

But, I was excited about my find.

So, I go into the dressing room and began to weed through my pile of clothes.

There was a dress.

I thought it was very nice.

The zipper of the dress was very difficult to zip up. So after struggling with it for awhile I managed to get it up. The neckline was too big.

😦

I started to try to unzip it. Then I tried again.

And again.

And again, then so on. I was stuck. It unzipped a little bit. But not far enough.

I was stuck in a dress, in the dressing room, at the thrift store. Which was in public.

Hmm, I tried to get out through the top of the dress.

I put a little tear in the neckline, oops. I was a little desparate, and I wasn’t about to open the door to ask a perfect stranger for help.

After more pulling I made a big enough opening to get out.

I didn’t buy that dress.

Browsing the shirts I found a really nice shirt.

It was orange plaid, and it looked like it would make a great summer shirt!

I was looking it over. It was so pretty, except for the blood stain on the side of it.

Turning around, I was facing another rack. Oooh!

I spotted a white and red flower shirt.

I turned it around to look it over to see if there were any stains.

Nope, no stains, just a skimpy V-neck.

All I bought was a jumper (which never happens because I have the hardest time with them fitting me.) And a summer skirt. My trip was midly sucessful.

Redish and Black Hound’s tooth dress- $1.50

Black tank dress thingy- $1.00

Navy Blue Sweater Cover-up-$1.00

Me- rather happy!

I usually don’t find dresses I like at thrift stores. They are either not my size, have something wrong with them, or are not te style I’m looking for. I get all of my jean skirts there though. All but one I own, and that was the one I bought over Ebay. 😀

If it’s at a store at over $5 (or unless I REALLY LIKE/ need it) I do not get it. At garage sales if it is over a dollar (or unless I REALLY LIKE/ need it) I do not get it.  I shop at the clearance racks. The ones where sometimes they don’t even bother to hang the clothes up nicely, in size order and color order. Who is gonna know anyways?

Do I have any thrifters out there that read my blog?

Happy thrifting!

So I’ve got to go shopping for food for this weekend today. Aldi will be my first stop. Aldi- if you haven’t shopped there you probably should check it out.

I went to JoAnn’s last night. I bought a sewing basket for my suff. My mom says I’m becoming quite the domestic goddess.

Don’t expect too many more updates. I’ll be gone all weekend and I don’t have internet access up at Higgins so have an amazing holiday weekend! God bless the U.S.A.!

Seek Ye First the Kingdom of God.
